Advanced Landscape Photography Workshop

August 7th & 8th, 2010, 2-day in-field workshop

Mount Desert Island is one of Maine's true gems of landscape. This national park is visited frequently by amateur, enthusiast, and professional photographers nationally and world-wide. The number of amazing images you'll get out of this weekend are only limited by how much time you spend with your camera in hand.

This workshop is aimed at those photographers with some landscape photography experience and focuses on using all the elements of composition to create images that sell. Learn tips and tricks from a professional landscape photographer, figure out which gear and filters you need, and which ones you should leave at home.

This workshop will start after noon on Saturday, although many will want to take advantage of the early start in the area, and can optionally attend a non-structured session in the morning. Saturday evening will focus on the business of landscape photography and how to shoot for improved print sales. Sunday will start with a very early morning shoot and travel to some of the lesser frequented scenic spots that are not as often photographed.

You will learn:

  • composition
  • handling difficult exposures
  • depth-of-field
  • color use
  • creating with an eye for sales

Workshop requirements:

  • a digital SLR camera
  • tripod
  • filters are suggested

Level: Serious Enthusiast/Semi-Pro

Location: Mount Desert Island, Maine

Rain date: August 14th & 15th, 2010

Registration Fee: $495

Online Learning

Can't attend a workshop in person? Why not take one online! While it's not possible to entirely recreate the experience of one of my in-person workshops, I do share a ton of information in my online tutorials. Many photographers sell DVDs ranging from $200 to $500 (or more!!). While they certainly try to give you the best of their knowledge at the time their author their content, that knowledge evolves over time. And many times, you can't digest all that content at once. You only need to know how to do something specific. Therefor I've introduced micro-tutorials. Smaller, focused, affordable online learning targeting very small segments of knowledge. And if I learn something new next month, the content gets updated!

While this content is still in development, I do have available two free Photoshop tutorials I've authored. Stay tuned to this page for more updates.
